2. Sendero Mini Stereo Speaker
You will enjoy the full benefits of miniaturization when you use the Sendero Mini speaker. It is roughly the size of a golf ball, flattened on opposite sides. Those flat spots are the stereo speakers. There is an eighth inch swivel plug that goes directly into a Victor Stream or iPod. A 3-foot extension cable is provided for use with a BrailleNote or other audio source. The price is $59 or $49 at time of purchase with another item.
Ask about the Outi headphones which don’t cover your ears.
3. Grant to Fund Acquisition of Assistive Technology
The Association of Blind Citizens offers funding to cover 50% of the cost of adaptive devices and software for eligible applicants. The products must retail between $200 and $6,000. To be eligible you must have a family income of less than $50,000 and cash assets of less than $20,000.
Applicants must be legally blind and U.S. residents.
Deadline is June 30, Sept. 30 and Dec. 31 for each grant period (3 per year).
For information, email aft@blindcitizens.org or contact Paul Wohlfeil at 217-785-9341.
4. A new custom case for the BrailleNote PK is available. Protect your $5000 investment with a $69 case (or $59 at time of purchase with another item). Sendero helped with the design so it is ideal for PK use in a variety of situations including with GPS.
a. For example, the lid of the case closes with two magnets. This lid can be flipped under the PK for use when walking with it around the neck or over the shoulder.
b. With these magnetic closures, there is no more Velcro to snag a sweater or other clothing.
c. The material is soft and pliable but also durable. It has a very elegant feel to it.
d. There is a zippered pouch in the lid of the case for business cards or compact flash cards.
e. The convertible shoulder strap makes it easy to switch from a standard shoulder strap to a short carrying handle. You can also unfasten one end of the strap should you wish to place the GPS receiver near a window without detaching it from the shoulder strap.
None of these features are offered on the default case that comes with the PK.

Does anyone know about the grant listed above? The email is returned as not being valid. I seem to recall sending an email to something like this before and had the same problem and I’m wondering if it is the same place.
